Reduce Your Power Bill By Installing Solar Panels on Your Rooftop

DID YOU KNOW... 21% of Australia’s electricity generation came from renewable energy in 2018!
The uptake of rooftop solar panels in Australia is incredibly healthy and it is estimated that a solar panel is installed every 6 minutes. SA’s love affair with solar continues to grow and as of mid-2018, more than 30% of homes in South Australia have had solar panels installed on their rooftop making it second in the county for rooftop solar installed. Due largely to the solar subsidy, cost of an installed system is incredibly affordable and with some energy retailers paying generous rates for the electricity sent back to the grid, consumers are able to make several hundred dollars each year and pay off their systems in less than 4 or 5 years.
To give you an idea how beneficial solar systems are and the cost benefits they deliver, a typical 6kW system installed in Adelaide can generate, on average throughout the year, approximately 25kWh of clean electricity per day. That is more than the typical household uses each day. If there is any extra energy generated which is not consumed by the household, it is sent back to the grid and the home becomes an electricity generator.

Owners of solar systems are generally paid for the amount of electricity they send back to the grid. With some of the highest electricity prices in the country, if your system is designed correctly for your household’s requirements, you could take your electricity bill to zero or you may even be able to get paid for the extra electricity that you roof produces!
To achieve this sort of performance – and do it year after year – aside from having a suitable rooftop, you need the right system installed by the right company. Therefore, the Clean Energy Council developed the Solar Accreditation Scheme. Accreditation with the Clean Energy Council recognises electricians who have undertaken the necessary training to design and install solar, batteries and other renewable energy systems.
Clean Energy Council accredited installers are certified and trained to ensure your system meets industry best practice standards and all relevant Australian Standards. This produces solar systems which are safe, reliable and meet customer expectations. Furthermore, only systems which are designed and installed by accredited installers are eligible for government incentives and rebates.
